California Lottery Logo

Lottery Logo Redesign

Client: California Lottery

After 28 years the California Lottery wanted a new logo. Every designer at our agency presented a few options. In the old logo the circle represented the bouncing lottery number balls and the stripes represented Scratchers tickets. My thinking based on past projects for the California Lottery was that the new logo should refer back to the old logo in some way while also looking exciting and new. The lottery is all about fun, gameplay, and the excitement of having a chance at winning, so I thought the colors should definitely be more vibrant. I chose the colors orange and blue to represent the sun and ocean. The old logo had a slight 3D bevel so I tried to make the new one have even more dimension. Rolling out the new brand was a huge undertaking for our entire team with many items to update and new things to design.
